These garden lanterns are made out of mild steel, and cast cement tiles.  Each is made individually.  Johnathan hand carved and made the tile design, thus making a mold after it was perfected.  We cast 4 tiles for the sides out of thin cement.  Each is cured, stained with an acid to give the green effect.  The lantern is fragile and is to be treated with care as if it was glass.  We would recommend putting the lantern into the ground about 3-4 inches to make sure it is stable.  If it is a taller lantern, maybe even more like 5-6 inches into the soil for stability. 

The lantern will weather over time.  The body (metal) will weather to a nice rust finish, leaving the tile the green tone you see in the photo.  The color of the tile can vary from piece to piece, as they are all individual pieces.
